To My Parent Who Found Love Again

Even though you come from different backgrounds, you complement each other.

The Art In Life

I couldn't be happier for you.

You found someone who loves you for you, who will love you unconditionally and without rhyme or reason. They simply love being with you. It is a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

I know you were worried about that, being alone. I admit, I too was a bit worried. Yet, I remained hopeful. Throughout my life, I have seen you with other people who didn't appreciate you or value you and your time. Eventually, you grew tired of your hopes and heart being broken, so you focused on you for a long time. Which ended up being in your best interest. It showed me that you don't need to depend on anyone else but yourself. While it is nice to have someone in your corner- it isn't necessary. Throughout my life, I saw you be strong and independent. Always putting the needs of me (and everyone else) before your own, now it's most definitely your turn.

I am glad they treat you just like you should be treated, and they welcome me into the family with open arms. As we do the same for their family. I love it. I am also glad their kids and I get along so well, for that is important too. It's nice for them to include me in things just like it's amazing for you to include their kids in things.

Even though you both come from different backgrounds and have different life experiences, they do not define you. You have both learned how to handle things your own way over the years and together you complement each other extremely well. All of these factors go into a good relationship as well as compromise and willingness to do things the other wants, even if you don't necessarily want to do them. But it should come from both parties, don't let them take advantage of your desire to appease everyone and let yourself fall to the wayside. (I don't think that will happen.)

I love seeing you so happy. You DESERVE it. I hope that you two have a wonderful, long-lasting relationship.

Love you always,

Your daughter

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
