To My Older Sister As She Graduates
Cecilia Santis

Well, sis, you made it! Congrats on graduating college!

All those years of papers, exams, projects, and life as a student are behind you. Now you face the real world, and are more than ready for it.

But before you embark on this next chapter of your life, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for everything you’ve done for me as my older sister.

Thanks.

For getting mom and dad ready for being parents.

Let’s be real, you were basically the guinea pig when it came to everything. Once I came along, they pretty much had everything all figured out, so thanks a million for that.

For giving me pretty amazing hand-me-downs.

Sure, usually when people hear “hand-me-down” they don’t necessarily think of it as being a good thing. But you have great taste, and I was never upset when you grew out of a shirt or dress.

For showing me the joy that comes with all Disney movies.

Remember when we watched all those Disney movies on VHS? Watching those movies for the first time with you were always the best childhood memories.

For telling me all there was to know about certain teachers and classes we shared.

Stepping into a class with a teacher that you had already had before never me never made me anxious because you always gave me the lowdown of what they were all about. Again, thanks for being the guinea pig!

For giving me life advice about everything.

You always had your own way of giving me advice about boys, clothes, music, and pretty much life. And I’m forever grateful for that.

For having spontaneous dance parties with me.

The best moments were when we would close the doors, turn up the music, and dance crazily around the room together.

For being my very first roommate.

We always tried to be sneaky and would stay up talking past our bedtime on school nights. Thanks for being a rebel with me.

For sharing inside jokes with me.

Thanks for always laughing at my stupid jokes and attempting to make up good comebacks whenever I started teasing you. Key word: attempting.

For being my first best friend.

You’ll always be my first playmate, role model and best friend.

So, sister, as you start your journey into adulthood, know that I’m always here as you were for me my whole life. Thanks for being the best older sister ever!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
