An Open Letter To My Niece

When I look at you, I can’t help but smile.

An Open Letter To My Niece

When I look at you, I can’t help but smile. Life seems to be so easy for you right now. You get to live without a care in the world, along with your little brother and world’s greatest mommy (love you sis). Watching you run around and play, laughing and giggling; it’s a wonderful sound to hear, one of my favorite sounds in the world to be honest. I just have a few things I’d like to say my beautiful little niece.

I remember the day when you were just a little baby, an hour old you were just this perfect little doll. The cutest baby I had ever seen, and I know every aunt says that, but it’s true. I remember babysitting you, taking you down to MOA for your first time with Santa, taking you into the Disney store and watching you try to hold on to three huge stuffed characters. I also remember playing "Safe and Sound"whenever you cried to calm you down.

Soon you will be starting school; you’ll be in kindergarten! You’ll start meeting other little kids your age, start learning more than you already know (despite already being a little smarty pants), and making your mommy and I cry at how old you’re getting.

You’re growing up so fast little girl, before we know it, you’ll be graduating high school and the scary roller coaster called being-a-grown-up will be right in front of you, waiting for you to get on. You’ll never have to ride alone though, you have one big, loving family right behind you, ready to catch you.

So whenever your mom and I feel ready to let you grow up (which unfortunately for you is never), feel free to ask your crazy aunt for anything you need.

Love Always,

Your Overprotective Aunt

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
