To my little:
As I sit and write this letter, I could not have more excitement in my body. I love being in on this secret before you! So many of my sisters are calling you “Little” this week to throw you off, but I’m the only one who’s saying the truth about you. Don’t worry, that will only last a few more days.
Three years ago, I watched with envy as my older sister became a Chi Omega and got a Big of her own. I was jealous of their relationship because I was still in high school. I feared that they would be a better “Big/Little” pair than my biological “Big/Little” pair was. The following year, my sister got a Little of her own and I was, again, quite jealous of this Chi Omega who also got to call my sister her Big Sister. It wasn’t until last year, when I got a Big of my own, that I realized how different sorority Bigs are than biological Bigs. My Big would do anything for me. She accepted me with open arms as I sat on her floor and ate ice cream after a breakup. She has given me advice about stupid boys, academics, and life in general. She is my go-to person when I need encouragement or when I just want to rant to someone. On top of all that, we share the Sisterhood of Chi Omega, something that only a small population of women in the world get to share.
When I got the phone call that said you were officially mine, I cried. I truly couldn’t contain my emotions. I immediately started crafting and coming up with gift ideas. I’m trying my hardest to be artistic so you can have the coolest canvases ever, but I can’t promise perfection.
I’ve enjoyed getting to know you these past few weeks. Thank you for always making me laugh, even when it’s hard to. You’re always down for random adventures and I love that. Thanks for dancing like there’s no tomorrow and putting others before yourself. There’s so much I wish I could say, but I can’t say much more without revealing who you are.
Just to warn you, I’m not here to take stacked pictures and get lots of Instagram likes. I’m here to be your best friend, to have your back through anything, and to walk alongside you as you learn what it’s like to be a Chi Omega for the next three years and throughout life.
LICO,
Your Big
