To My Future Little

I don't know who you are yet, but I love you.

To my future little,

I don't know who you are yet, but I love you and I hope you will love me.

Ever since joining a sorority I couldn't wait to be a big. As the baby of my family, I was never able to be the older sister that someone could go to with their problems. Sure I had friends who came to me, but being a big sister for someone is different. I wanted to be there for someone, to be a mentor for them, to always have their back and support them no matter what. And now that I'm finally able to be that for you, I can't wait!

Over the past year, my big has meant so much to me. She has helped me get through all of the ups and downs, both in our sorority and in life. She has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter. It's because of her and her impact on my life that I'm so excited to be your big!

I want to have the impact on you that she had on me. Because you deserve to know that someone loves you unconditionally. That someone will scream your name as you make that touchdown in your IM game. That someone will help you get through that breakup, through that bad grade, through that hard life decision. I am so grateful and lucky to be able to be that someone for you. Being a big is a huge responsibility and not something that I take lightly. I promise to be there for you, always.

I can't wait for us to get close and get to know each other better. Just so you know, there will be endless laughs and tons of mushy, cry sessions. We're going to jam in the car to Disney music and throwback Taylor Swift. We're going to watch chick flicks and stuff our faces with an endless supply of ice cream. We're going to make memories that will last us a lifetime and I can't wait.

But I know it won't always be perfect. No relationship is perfect. But I will take all of those moments that aren't perfect if that means I even get a few perfect ones, a few of us laughing until we cry, a few of me helping you go through life, a few of me watching you grow into your own and finding out who you are. That's what I'm excited for. I want to see you find the joy and happiness that our chapter has brought me.

In life, there are many struggles that we both are going to face. You always need someone there to boost you up and keep you going. I hope that we will be that for one another. You deserve endless happiness and for all of your dreams to come true. And I will be there, cheering you on every step of the way! I want you to know that you can come to me with anything and trust me.

I don't know who you are yet, but I love you and I hope you will love me. I can't wait to go through life together. Here's to all the memories we will make.

Love always,

Your future big

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
