To My Crush, An Ode To Classic Rock

I want to know what love is, but will my crush show me? Maybe I am I just living on a prayer?

Do you ever feel butterflies whenever you're around someone you're interested in? Do you ever get that text message from that person and your anxiety levels heighten? Are you just too much of a punk to let them know how you truly feel, regardless of the answer?

Do you know I'm actually talking to myself?

Yeah, I experience all of these things on a regular basis. I, a hopeless romantic, have never been in a relationship before. I don't count long distance, online relationships, sorry. I have, however, been rejected by many of my past crushes. Rejection stings, especially when you get your hopes up too damn high and you believe that you have the potential to be with that person.

For the past few months in college, I've been very silent about my romantic feelings for someone. I ignored them for a while because academics come first. I decided to write a letter. Aware of the fact that we both love classic rock, or music in general, I figured the only way to understand me is through song titles. So, feel free to read my letter. I won't say names to respect confidentiality, but they'll know who they are.

"Hey Jude,"

I apologize in advance for not finding the courage to approach you in person. I'm not that easy with words. So, instead, I wrote a letter. It was either this or a stupid "Message In A Bottle"—because I do need help. When I sent out that S.O.S. to the world, you came around. I'd be lying to myself if I said that "Life's Been Good." I was at a low point in the semester, an and then there was you. These days, I lie to myself and say that I don't need anyone, but I'm part of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." I've searched for that person, but I got my hopes up before, and they "Shattered." Unfortunately, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. The question is: are you what I'm looking for?

Seriously, it was just two, or three, looks in the classroom and damn—I was hoping you'd "Walk This Way." You didn't, though. But, you know what they say: "You Can't Always Get What You Want," so I understood. By winter, I heard you were "In The City" and I wanted to hang out with you, perhaps show you around the "Streets Of Philadelphia," but your visit was only temporary. Back on campus, I tried to impress you. One day, I told you, "I got "Brass In Pocket." I wanted to make you notice.

There were moments where I pushed back from you. I know how I get when I'm around someone I'm very interested in—I come off too strong and if ignored, I come off as a "B*tch."Can you really blame me?

I don't like to beat around the bush. Enough of the bullsh*t. I like you. I like you more than I like Rihanna, and that's serious. I like you more than a mocha frappuccino on a Monday morning. You see, "What I Like About You"is your hospitality, your personality, and your honesty. I like your music taste. You'd rather listen to "Bohemian Rhapsody"while I'd rather listen to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" It sounds pretty cliché, I know. This entire letter is freaking cliché. Either way, you know how to make a man who's "Bad To The Bone"have a good heart.

I'd say "I Want You To Want Me," but I'd be relying on first instincts. I'm not desperate. If you can't reciprocate these feelings, I know I'll be fine "With Or Without You."I'll just "Let It Be." I know you have a past. I have a "Bad Reputation." All in all, I'm just "Another Brick In The Wall." I have "Dreams," too.

I'm not asking to be your lover. I'm not asking you for anything. I just want you to know how I feel. I want you to know that I'm committed to "Pick Up The Pieces"whenever you fall.

Sincerely,

Your Crush

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
