To My Close-Knit Group Of Friends

I wouldn't want it any other way.

To My Close-Knit Group Of Friends

As we grow older, many people enter and leave our lives. Every single person that enters, enters for a reason. If they are meant to stay, they will, and if they were only meant to stop in for awhile, then so be it. As we reach this point in time, entering adulthood allows us to realize those friends that waltzed in and never left.

Throughout my middle school years, I used to take pride in my huge friend group that would get together on Friday nights and have dance parties in our friends' basements. As high school came along, that giant group casually began to diminish, one by one. Before I knew it, it was just me and three others. Believe it or not, those same three friends are still by my side today, as I take on my sophomore year of college.

To these girls, I would like to say thank you.

Thank you for enduring our friendship, even when I'm sure you didn't want to.

Thank you for sticking around, especially when others decided to leave.

Thank you for taking selfies with me and editing them on Picnik until we were unrecognizable.

Thank you for posing right next to me with our gowns flowing behind us at senior prom.

Thank you for double dating with me and being excited and welcoming with every new boyfriend I had.

Thank you for picking me up when that same boy pushed me down.

Thank you for rocking gauchos and Heelys with me, and telling me I looked great.

Thank you for laughing at old pictures of our awkward days.

Thank you for becoming a part of my family and including me in yours.

Thank you for being the one standing in front of me when everything went wrong.

Thank you for being my first phone call when I have good news.

Thank you for being the longest FaceTime when I really need to vent.

Thank you for always being down when I want to go out and have a good time.

Thank you for all of the sleepovers where we talked for hours.

Thank you for being there for every important moment in my life; I know you wouldn't miss any of it for the world.

Most importantly, I hope I was as good of a friend to you three as you were to me.

Love you Kayla, Nicole, & Jules.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
