To My Boyfriend, 10 Reasons I'm Thankful For You
Brianna Carmona

Putting up with me is a hard work, no doubt. I'm stubborn, complicated, and very hard to deal with. I'm a handful. But, luckily, you has two hands. Even though I don't tell you enough, I appreciate all that you do for me. I'm more thankful than you know.

1. Thank you for always making me feel safe.

From throwing your hand in front of me when you slam on the brakes to constantly vowing to protect me from any danger, I know that I'm safe with you. If it weren't for you, the bugs that sneak in through the cracks would still be alive because my best defense is running away and pretending they're not there. I probably would never willingly watch scary movies, even if my hands are covering my face the whole time. You've helped my conquer my fears, one step at a time.

2. Thank you for making sure I stay healthy.

It's probably a good thing you push me to make better choices concerning my health. Since my mom isn't always there to tell me what's best for me, I need you to tell me that eating mac and cheese every night does not cover the important food groups and to make me go to the doctor when I really try to avoid it.

3. Thank you for pushing me academically.

Let's be honest here, my motivation to do school work isn't exactly, well, there. If it were up to me, I would spend my time binging Netflix a lot more than I should. Instead of just yelling at me to do my homework, you encourage me to get my work done. And when I need help, you'll stop what you're doing to enter the ever so interesting world of Into to Management and help me study.

4. Thank you for listening to all my secrets.

You're my best friend. Even when it drives you crazy, you'll listen to all my gossip and problems. You probably know more about what's going on than I do sometimes. But don't lie, you know you love it.

5. Thank you for dealing with my erratic mood swings.

One minute, I could be talking to you about how much I like the new makeup that I got, and the next minute, I could be yelling about how I'm so stressed out. There's no denying that I'm a hot mess. I put the psycho in psychology major (you know you love my jokes). Somehow you know just what to do so that I come back down to earth again.

6. Thank you for saving the last piece of everything for me.

Candy, chicken tender, piece of pizza. You name it. If there's only one left, it's mine. Even if you don't get full, you offer me the last bit of your meal. And I can't say that I'm complaining about it!

7. Thank you for putting up with every one of my obsessions.

I have a new obsession at least once a month. When I was obsessed with One Tree Hill, you sat through weeks of tears and heartbreak as I watched Naley with wide eyes. During my Buffy the Vampire obsession, you put up with my constant need to act like a fearless badass. During my diet phase, you told me how beautiful I was, and even dieted along with me.

8. Thank you for teaching me to love my flaws.

When I look at myself in the mirror, sometimes all I can see are bags under my eyes, stretch marks on my legs, and pudge on my stomach. You wrap your arms around me and kiss me on the forehead. You tell me that I'm perfect, that you love every part of me. It's all I need to make me feel better.

9. Thank you for showing my the importance of voicing my own opinions.

If I know one thing about you, it's that you don't conform to the norm. You encourage me to be an individual, rather than part of a whole group. But, you still love my basic side. You always assure me that others will love my goofy side just as much as you do.

10. Most importantly, thank you for showing me that I should never settle.

Before you, I was dating a guy that couldn't care less about me. All he cared about was himself and saving his money. He never made me feel like I was worth anything. I thought that was how relationships were supposed to be until I met you. You showed me that love is selfless and kind. You taught me that it is important to give my love 100% towards others and myself. I am forever grateful that you taught me was love actually is supposed to be like.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
