To My Angel sent from Heaven
We all have that special someone who we call “Guardian Angel,” mine happens to be my grandmother whom I call “Nonny”. Sweet, smart, loving, caring she has it all, words can’t describe the love I have for this woman and how much she means to me. My Nonny is my Angel sent from Heaven.
Growing up my parents got divorced when I was 6 years old, my mom was a single mother trying to provide for three kids and working full time if it was not for my Grandmother I don’t know what we would have done. She has always been there through thick and thin no matter what the situation to be. I could always lean on her shoulder and cry for as long as I wanted to and she would never complain.
In 2010, my Nonny was diagnosed with a Cancer called multiple myeloma. It really hit home with my family and made us realize just how special she really is. Although we did not understand why her, and why cancer but, we did believe that God has a plan and we have to trust that.
Here we are in 2017, and my Nonny is pushing just as hard and fighting like nothing is affecting her, she continues to live every day to the fullest and still manages to keep a smile on her face. At times she tells me, “I feel like giving up, but it’s because of you and the family why I keep going.” Little does she know she is the reason this whole family keeps going and stays together. I always tell her that she is my Angel sent from Heaven because without her I am not sure if I could manage when it comes to certain things.
We all have that one person in our family who is the backbone and keeps everybody together and thriving, well for my family it is my Nonny. She is almost like a superhero, Christmas morning you should see her in the kitchen preparing food for over 30 people, having her CD player playing Alan Jackson Christmas music and singing along while she is making stuffing in her snowflake PJ’s with her house robe on.
Although she may not want over 30 people showing up at her house because she doesn’t feel good, she never stops going and continues because of the love she has for her family.
Of course, I can’t forget the love her and my papaw have for each other, they are the ideal couple and one day I hope to have the same relationship that they have, and the love that they share for one another. We go each day not knowing how much longer we may have with my Nonny, as she is pushing through this terrible disease we cherish the time and love we have with her and the memories and moments we share. So Nonny here are a few things I would like to say to you:
Thank you for being my rock,
Thank you for lending a shoulder I can always cry on,
Thank you for showing me how to love somebody,
Thank you for being my biggest supporter,
Finally, Thank you for being my Angel sent from Heaven.
