Thank you for coming each time we call for your help. Without hesitation, you have shawn us what true selflessness is.

Each time you leave your house, kissing your wife or husband and children goodbye to go out into a scary world we have created, not knowing if tonight is going to be the night you don't come back, we thank you.

We thank you for putting us first, before your safety and family. For swearing to protect the safety of the community and going out of your way to give an extra hand.

You risk your life, day in a day out, at every traffic stop, every call, and every accident to ensure and enforce the laws that protect and each and every one of us, regardless of race, sexual orientation, or religious preference.

You run towards the chaos and danger, while shielding those who run away from it, knowing that could be the last person you save.

You go home every night, with heavy boots and a heavy heart. Knowing that the weight of those you couldn't save will lie in your heart. Knowing that tomorrow you will wake up, leave your family, and do it all over again.

You protect those who hate you, who disrespect you, and who may even hurt you. We thank you.

You are more appreciated than you know. The majority of us, salute your daily sacrifice and pray for the safety of each and every one of you. And we are sorry.

We are sorry that some people within your force aren't as good of people as you are. That they put a taint on the badge you are honored to wear.

You keep doing your job despite what these corrupt officers have convinced people you all are. You keep protecting, even those who spit at your feet and call you names. We are sorry.

We are sorry that no one can reach those people because they are so full of hate of those who have done them injustice that they can't see that you are not the enemy, that you keep them safe. We are sorry that they clump you all together in one bad bunch and punish you for things you wouldn't dream of doing.

The turmoil gets rooted deeper each act of violence and injustice. Your job becomes harder and more dangerous each day. And we are sorry.

We thank you. For putting your life on the line daily. For going out of your way do so some extra good to shine the film of corruption off your badges.

Your daily sacrifice does not go unnoticed. We thank you for walking the thin blue line.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
