To My Friends As We Part Ways

This year will be tough without you.

To my amazing, wonderful friends,

We are leaving for college very soon. It's scary and exciting all at once; we are about to make our first moves into the "real world." I'm sorry we cannot be together for these next life-changing years like we have been for so long. I will miss laughing with you as new memories are created and old ones reminisced. I will miss seeing you in person so often and be able to drive to your house in 20 minutes or less just to sit around and do nothing. I will miss picking on you and pushing your buttons and talking about all our very different interests. I will miss staying up all night with you talking about everything and anything.

But mostly I will miss knowing you will be right by my side for everything. We will not be together to go to parties and only talk to our small friend group. We will not be together to shop for a special event. We will not be together to vent when it's most needed and offer support. These are the things I will miss when school takes us all.

Know that I will think about you all the time; looking at old pictures, gifts, and notes. I will be anxiously anticipating when we all see each other again for Thanksgiving break. Prepare to be bombarded with questions of how college life has been, what you like most and least, and probably what you want for Christmas (maybe I'll finally get you those sunglasses you want so bad).

I know we are all going to do great things and college is preparing us for it. I look forward to visiting you at school when I can and I hope you can do the same for me. We will all make new friends, I know that, but you are irreplaceable to me and I will never have any friends just like you. You helped get me through incredibly hard times just by being there and I hope I did the same for you. You also left me with some of the best memories I'll ever have.

So as we set off on this new journey, just remember that I love you and I am wishing you the best in college. Thank you for the many wonderful years; I hope there will be many more.

Sincerely,

Your best friend

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
