To Every 20 Something, it will be Okay!

To Every 20 Something, it will be Okay!
Sarah McKalip

So you're 20-years old, or somewhere around there, and you're wondering "Will it ever get easier?" The answer is yes. I am in my twenties as well, but I just want to encourage any twenty-something who may need uplifting. Life is tough so instead of spinning off negative news and things that we wish could happen in this week's article, I just want to give a little shout out to all the twenty-somethings who need some cheering up! Don't be afraid of the twenties. Take them on with heart, and be strong and courageous. Life is too fun to not live it fully!

So you've come this far. That's a pretty big deal, don't lose sight of all the things you've accomplished in life. Focus on what you've done instead of what you still have to do and just be happy where you are. This lesson took me a long time to learn, but once you are content where you are, even the bad things don't seem so tough. Life is a dance you learn as you go, so don't give up. Just remember how far you've come and all the things you still have to look forward to. Life isn't about the destination, but about the journey along the way, so you might as well enjoy it.

When it comes to money and dealing with getting your first place, I've learned a few things. Life is more important than money, and enjoying the moment means more than worrying about what I don't have. I'm doing okay for getting my first place. It's not as dreamy as I thought it would be, but life isn't always uphill, so we have to enjoy the climb. I am learning to enjoy what I have and the people that surround me.

You don't have to know what job you want right at this very moment. It's okay to look around and look for what you really love to do. Even if it doesn't pay well. I've learned it's better to love what you do and just be getting by, than to hate what you do and be well off. You need to find what you love. Don't settle for something that doesn't make you happy every single day. I had a professor my freshman year tell me that if you have a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life. And that's what I intend to do, and I hope you do too!

So try to find the good in every situation, because happiness is a choice. I saw a sign today that said choose your battles wisely, sometimes a little peace is better than being right, and that's very true. Seek first peace and then you will realize what is right. Don't make a big fuss over trivial things.

I'm not too far into my twenties, but I want all my fellow twenties to know that we are in this together, we are strong, and we will succeed. Life may knock us down but the important thing is that you get back up, you keep trying, you keep following your dreams, and you keep being an inspiration. Don't let the world tell you that you can't. Don't let that stop you from doing what you want to do and following you dream. So here's to us twenty year old's who are not just getting by, but loving life and enjoying our youth! We will make the difference the world dares to see! Happy twenties. You got this!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
