It’s that dreaded time of the semester: the halfway point.

No matter your major, whether you had five midterms, a few papers or just a ton of projects, you’ve never been so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work you’ve had due. But it’s coming to an end and you deserve a break. Here are my favorite things to do once midterms are over.

1. Cry out of pure happiness

When you didn’t think you’d make it but you did.

2. Go outside

Odds are you’ve been in the library too long studying your a** off, but it's fall. Enjoy the trees.

3. Party with friends

Nothing makes you happy like laughing with friends and letting go of all responsibilities.

4. Catch up on your favorite show

There’s no shame in watching seven hours of TV after the amount of studying you’ve had to endure this week.

5. Go out to eat

Buy yourself your favorite meal and top it off with dessert, too.

6. Shop ’til you drop

Buy that dress you always wanted. Reward yourself.

7. Take a bath

It’s the ultimate way to relax. Light some candles and lie in the hot bubbles.

8. Read a book

Now that you have some free time, pick up that book you never got around to reading.

9. Go to the movies

A fun night out is just what the doctor ordered.

10. Have a dance party

Blast that music and dance like no one's watching.

11. Take a long nap

It's time to catch up on sleep, too, because you know you practically didn't get any during midterms week.

12. Go home

There's nothing as relaxing as being with family and actually getting to sleep in your own bed and see your pets.

13. Cry because Finals Week is coming

Get ready to do it all over again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
