To be a Man of God

To be a man of God is not just opening the doors for people, being polite, and going to church on Sundays. If you are a man and read that, I am not saying that you are not a man of God, but we can all do better. For the women reading this article, all I ask is that you value men of God with these traits. I am not saying to praise them, but give them recognition because to be a man of God is to do things for others without expecting anything in return.

What is a man of God?

A man of God is the ultimate servant. Now at first, that may sound weird. If you look at Christ's story and his lifestyle, it was simple and very giving. He did not make any judgments, he did not praise himself, nor did he do wrong to anybody. He was perfect in every way, shape, and form. We as humans are meant to make mistakes. With that being said, to be a man of God is not necessarily to be perfect, but to pursue a life with God involved. There are certain virtues that exemplify a man of God.

1. Loyalty

Men who are loyal stick to what they believe and do not change that for anyone. They try their best to be there for people they care about. Being loyal does not have to do with only relationships. Loyalty is also important in daily life and involves people you come across. Being loyal is going above and beyond to meet others needs before yours are met. Don't think that you should be used and trampled over by everyone, though. A man of God will stand his ground and focus on his daily life while at the same time finding time to pray and help others whenever possible. Men loyal to God should always try to lead people to Christ. Not by their words, but their actions. They must set the example by helping people, while not breaking away from their own beliefs.

2. Chivalry

Chivalry does not only mean holding the door open for someone, nor does it mean to be someone's knight in shining armor and save the day. What it really means is to help people out and not expect anything in return. That doesn't mean to just not accept anything, but to always be willing to help someone out and not expect to be given anything, just as Christ himself did. Look at all the many acts of wonder he did to help people. Did he get a thank you? No, he got a crucifixion. As harsh as that sounds, it's true. It does not hurt nor will it kill you to go the extra mile to help someone. To be chivalrous is to be a gentleman towards everyone.

3. Spirituality

This one is the key thing to being a man of God because without spirituality, you will not be able to have a solid base of morals to go off of. Men must follow Christ, act as Christ did, and set the example by being ultimate servants. A man must follow the 10 commandments. Not only should they attend church, but attend bible studies as well as help out the church and be there for your community and family.

Conclusion

In conclusion, being a man of God is to be the ultimate servant and it is not to be done for pleasure but for the honor of being one.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
