This is just a little motivation for all of you college-goers; I get it. We are disease-ridden, sleep-deprived, over-caffeinated, and just plain stressed the f—out. I can honestly say that the traumatic transition from tranquil summer, to suddenly attempting to conquer the illustrious Purdue curriculum, made my eye twitch for FOUR DAYS straight. Did I hope no one noticed? You bet. But did they? Probably.
However, I am here to tell you that that’s okay! Understand that sometimes life is a twitchy eye, but that’s precisely when we need to stay hopeful that it’ll stop eventually. In the meantime, my best advice is to simply embrace the twitch. By that I mean, don’t waste good energy on worrying about things we cannot control. For example, the “Purdue Plague” is definitely a thing and it will find you. The sooner we believe that the better, at least then we can somewhat prepare. There’s something about accepting the inevitable that takes a little weight off your shoulders and allows you to breathe a little easier.
Whether you’re in the middle of trying to survive chemistry, calculus, COM 114 or geology *personal cringe*, remember that this too shall pass. Yes, super cliché but super true. May I remind you that we are less than a MONTH away from Thanksgiving Break? Now if that doesn’t make you want to get up and dance a jig, I don’t know what will. The thought alone nearly calls for some sort of celebration. After that, the rest of the semester is pretty much cake; what even are finals when Christmas Break is a mere three weeks away following Thanksgiving?
Ahh, Christmas Break, a beautiful month consisting of your mother’s unconditional food and lovin’, visits from family and hometown friends, and slowly but surely ridding yourself of any acquired illnesses. Christmas Break is the time when sleep won’t be disturbed by alarms or educational obligations. Keep in mind that all of this is to come and more, so hang in there! We CAN do this. Perseverance people! We gotta fake it till we make it, so let’s do just that. I hope I was able to motivate you a little bit more, and who knows, maybe even make your eye twitch a little bit less. #Winning
