To An Unforgettable Night

It all started with the dress.

To An Unforgettable Night
Srihitha Padamatinti

It all started with the dress

It was just pure beauty and perfect

For it was an unforgettable night

Next it was time for hair

For what felt like an eternity, it was finally all done and ready

Sitting quietly, all dresses up, I waited for the time to come

Strolling in with a smile on my face, I was nervous

Everyone wooing and clapping, finally I let myself free

With the flashing lights and cameras all pointing at me, I waved endlessly

And then the time came, deep breath in and out

As hectic and crazy as you were, you were probably my best day

Solely dedicated to me, I found my true self

Surrounded with such beauty and joy, a smile was on my face the entire night

With the lights blinding me and the loud music blasting in my ears,

It was truly an unforgettable night

Staying awake on only Gatorade, I was fully energized

When the music came, I knew exactly what to do

Music was flowing throughout my moves

You let me dance freely and enjoy myself

And when this night ended, it was truly a dismay

But little did I know that the party would carry over all night long

From walking all around the hotel and mall and running around at 3 am, tired we did get

Ate all the food possible- pineapples, pizza, chocolate- you name it, we had it

And then, the binge watching started...

Finally drifting off, it was 8 am

Devouring the delicious food, we looked stuffed

The time we were all trying to escape from slowly crept up to us…

And then it came, we took a last look at it

And sat in the car

For it was an unforgettable night

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
