'Tis The Season For Being Thankful
Emily Kaye

Lucky. I think that is what I am feeling right now. As I sit writing down the things I am thankful for, I realize how fortunate I am that my list is so long. I have a support system, opportunity, a roof over my head, etc. I cannot even begin to express the gratitude I feel towards the loving and caring people in my life as my heart is so full. So 'tis the season for being thankful.

I am thankful for my friends, who share their laughter, kindness, and love with me. I am thankful for my mom, who has the best advice and is the best role model. I am thankful for my dad, who shows me the power of hard work and perseverance. I am thankful for my brother, who I look up to for his determination and bravery. I am thankful for my dog, who always knows how to cheer me up. I am thankful for my home with them in California.

I am thankful for friendship. I am thankful for my friends who I can count on for laughs, a shoulder to cry on, and for a good time. I am thankful for the memories I have and am continuing to make. I am thankful for time to make these memories. I am thankful for unconditional love. I am thankful for the unwavering power of kindness. I am thankful for respect. I am thankful for uncontrollable laughter.

I am thankful I wake up every morning. I am thankful for all of the opportunity I have given. I am thankful for the ability to have an education and study at Villanova. I am thankful for the ability to live and study in Copenhagen this semester. I am thankful for the ability to travel. I am thankful for the freedom to explore my passions and be myself. I am thankful for the ability to learn from my mistakes.

I am thankful for my health and well being. I am thankful for my safety and security. I am thankful for access to clean food and water. I am thankful for my bed. I am thankful for sunrises and sunsets. I am thankful for running. I am thankful for art. I am thankful for happiness.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
