It's that time of year again! The creepies and the crawlies, the ghouls and the monsters are all coming out to play. But this year seems to be different as there are more and more precautions surrounding October 31. So, here are some tips to keep you safer this Halloween!
1. Stay away from clowns. Period.
If you're planning on dressing up as one this year, just forget it. Due to all of the reports and scares in the media surrounding "aggressive" clowns, people, especially if they've consumed some form of alcohol, are not going to take a liking to your costume.
And if you're not dressing up as one good, but still stay away from them because you never know what may happen.
In general, it's just going to be a good idea to skip the whole clown costume idea this year.
2. Dress appropriately for the weather
Getting the "D" isn't worth it if you're going to freeze off you "V," and vice versa.
Wear a jacket. Or some pants.
3. Use the buddy system
Don't walk alone at night, no matter what. Usually walking alone at night isn't a good idea in general, but especially on Halloween, it isn't a good idea.
Make sure that you both are able to get home safely, so groups of 3 or more are better unless you're all ending up in the same place.
Also when walking home, walk farthest from the street as possible. You've never know what driver has been drinking before they've gotten behind the wheel.
4. If drinking legally* be mindful of the drinks that you are putting into your system
Lately on college campus', acts of sexual assault have gotten more and more attention than they have recently in the past. This being said, if you're going to any kind of party keep an eye on your drink at all times.
Also, don't let anyone mix your drink if you can't see what they're putting into it.
Make sure that you eat prior to drinking. Carbs, carbs and more carbs.
5. Let loose and enjoy the festivities, just not too loose
The killer headaches and hangovers in the morning aren't worth it if you can't enjoy all of the discounted Halloween candy the next day.
Because who doesn't love cheap but quality candy corn?
Happy Halloween!
