Each time the first test of the semester comes along, you start to freak out because you feel as though you aren't ready to take it on. You feel like you aren't going to do good and that you should just go ahead and drop the test altogether. Here are a few tips to get you through those feelings and those exams:
1. Create Outlines
I know what you are thinking, how am I supposed to sleep when I have a bug test right around the corner? But, what you should know is that the amount of knowledge you retain when you are on minimal sleep is, well, minimal. You will keep that information for a short amount of time, but that isn't what these classes are for. No matter how stupid you think it is that you have to take Wellness or English 2100 because you think when are you going to need to know all of that, but there will be a time where you do need to know those little things. Whether it is another class, your job, or just some random trivia, it will get you somewhere.
3. Ask Your Professor For Help
Even though they may say that they don't give out study guides because you will never learn if they just give you everything, but they have office hours for a reason. They spend extra time on campus to help you with questions you may have and help you understand a few things a little more. There was one class my freshman year in trigonometry, and to say math is not my strongest suit would be an understatement. I went to every class, and when the final came around I was at every study session and every single time my professor had office hours, and let me tell you, it paid off. She was able to break things down far much more than she was able to do in class.
4. Breathe
You will not get anywhere if you get overly upset about the situation that you are in. We all understand that it is stressful to not know what is going on, and which chapter to start with but just breathe. Every time you feel as though you are getting overwhelmed, just take a couple of deep breaths and you will get through it.
