School is probably the most important things in many of our lives currently, and unfortunately, it is what drives us. However, we also have to remember our health because without healthy lives there is no studying.

1. Exercise

I know this is something you always hear from everyone around you, but the reality of it is that it is true: when you exercise, you forget about everything going on around you.

Exercising gives your brain a break from all the thinking you have had to do the whole day. It helps you forget about all the good and the bad that has happened throughout your day and helps you focus more once you are done. I know that after I exercise I actually tend to get things done faster because I am so refreshed.

2. Eat Healthy

Okay, this is the second most commonly heard thing, right? I know for me it is because my parents tell me that, and my doctor does, too. However, just like exercise, this is just as important because when you eat healthy you have a balanced lifestyle and when that happens, you are no longer stressed about your life and the 50 million things going around in it. In addition, by eating healthy you also allow yourself to not get sick as much, which is a big plus in the education and learning world!

3. Meditation

Meditation: it is not something that we hear everyday; instead it is something that we tend to believe is seen in the movies or on television, right? However, that is not true.

Meditation allows you to relax and think about your day. It gives you a chance to destress and reflect on what has happened throughout your day. By thinking about or reflecting on your day, it allows you to determine what you have to change for tomorrow or what you did good and what you did bad in the day.

4. Tea NOT Coffee

Okay, I know this is a hard one to believe, but it is true. Coffee makes a person jittery, and it allows them to peak with energy, but it also causes some people to crash with it, too. However, tea, on the other hand, allows a person to have a gradual increase and decrease of energy. The more energy you have allows you to be less stressful because you know that you can complete all of the things that you have to for that day. There is more hope for you when you have tea, that I know for a fact.

5. Have fun!

Having fun allows you to be energized and truly have the time of your life. Having fun, in other words, means that you DO NOT STUDY. It is your break from all things school or work related because the reality of the fact is that you need you time and fun time. Go out to a party of a restaurant and have fun with your family and friends because even though we are conditioned to believe that school is everything, it truly is not.

6.  Stay Positive

Okay yes, I know this is probably the hardest thing to do when you have like five assessments the next day, but it has been proven that with a positive attitude one can actually perform better. At this point, I can positively say that is what everyone wants in their life. Also, you are amazing and do not let anyone tell you otherwise.

7. Drop Everything

Dropping everything and just sitting there will allow you to relax a little too. It will give you a chance to just breath and take in everything you have learned and simply absorb and relax. It will help you become less anxious and calmer when you go back to the books because of the simple fact that you are going at it with a new view that is fresh.

8. SLEEP

This is the most impossible one out of this whole list for the simple reason that it is hard to do. The only reason it is hard to do is that we are constantly doing things and running around to get things done. After a long day of work and going to classes that is exactly what we need, but unfortunately, it is like another job to go and find sleep.

9. Laugh

Whether it is watching something funny or just randomly doing it, just laugh because that could be the next step for you to destress. People say laughter is the best medicine, so why so use it to lead a better and healthier lifestyle! In a way I think of it as it kind of forces me to feel better.

10. Buy a plant.

Last but not least, this is my favorite. I bought a plant, and it sits in my room, and it is the best for two reasons: first it looks great and is very low maintenance, and second it makes my room smell fresh all the time which in a way already distresses me. The plant is also who I rant to and they are great listeners and they do not talk back and look all judgey!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
