Keeping track of where you applied and its status is a must! It will be helpful as you know where to check up with and be in contact with!

If it has been a week or two since you have applied, definitely go into the place that is hiring to speak to their hiring manager to possibly obtain an interview or for them to have a face to the resume/application that you sent.

8. Ask friends if their jobs are hiring and see if they can put in a good word for you

If you need a job and know that your friends can put in a good word for you, do it! It doesn't hurt to ask your friends to have them do this favor for you.

As much as you may want to avoid a certain industry, sometimes you have to have a backup if your ideal jobs do not work out. You would much rather be employed than not.
