When you think of hair loss or balding, you might assume that this is something you can expect at a much later stage of your life. However, there are many reasons why hair loss can happen, and it can also start as early as adolescence for some. This can be a distressing experience, and you might find that your confidence is knocked as a result. However, there are steps you can take to help cope better with hair loss, and here are some tips to try if this is happening to you.

Accept That it is Happening

This might not be the easiest thing to do, but the reality is what it is. The sooner you accept that your hair is thinning or you are developing bald spots, the easier it will be to start getting more comfortable with the idea and even finding useful solutions to help you take control of the situation. You might not be able to slow or stop your hair loss, but you can find ways to incorporate this into your style and learn how to be more confident in your appearance.

Consider a Hair Transplant

This may not be a suitable option for everyone, but a hair transplant can be a great solution if you are feeling distressed about your hair loss. This can be an expensive procedure, but it will be worth the investment if it can help your mental and emotional well-being. It’s a permanent solution for hair loss too, and although it might take a while for you to see results, it can do a lot to put your mind at ease.

Speak to Your Doctor About Medications

There might be some medical treatments you can take to reduce your hair loss. For example, for male pattern baldness, minoxidil can be prescribed by your doctor. It doesn’t work for everyone, but it might be worth a try to see if it can offer you a solution. If your hair loss is due to another medical condition, speak to your doctor for further advice and possible treatments to help your hair grow back or prevent any further loss.

Use Gentle Hair Products

When it comes to shampoos, conditioners, and other hair products, it’s always smart to use ones that are right for your hair type, for example, dry hair, oily hair, etc. When you are experiencing hair loss, using gentle shampoos and conditioners is likely the best thing for your hair. It won’t stop hair loss or help it grow back, but it might slow down the hair loss more so than harsher products.

Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

If you’re not getting the right nutrition, this could either be causing your hair loss or at least helping to speed it up if it is a genetic condition. Make sure that you are maintaining a healthy lifestyle and eating a balanced diet, as this will provide your body with the right nutrition to keep your hair as healthy as possible.

Hair loss is never easy, even if it is something that happens to you later in life. If you are going through this currently and are finding it difficult, try these tips to see if they can help.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
