About six months ago, I started a bulk. A bulk that got a little out of hand. All I wanted to do was gain a few pounds so I could gain some more muscle mass, but I ended up gaining 30lbs. So, right now is definitely a great time for a cut, which means no more ice cream, no more chips, and a lot of "healthy" foods ughhh. Just the thought of it sickens me. It's been about two weeks now, and I'm just starting to get used to this new diet, but it was definitely a struggle...
1. I'm so hungry!!
When you first start a diet, your goal is usually to lose weight, which means eating less. Coming off of a bulk, a bulk where I was basically eating whatever I want whenever I want, cutting my calories is so hard. For the first week, I felt so hungry all the time. It takes time for your body to get used to your new eating habits. As soon as you get over the hunger bump, it's smooth sailing.
2. 3 sets is as good as 5
One thing that I forgot while I was bulking is that I was supposed to workout harder....but that didn't exactly happy. Now, I'm trying to have more discipline when it comes to working out, but sometimes working out is just so hard. There are assignments and sleep I could be catching up on. Yes, it's always good to take a rest day, especially if life is getting out of hand, but if you really want to achieve your New Year's resolution - 3 sets is not as a good as the 5 you planned to do.
3. This donut fits my macros, so it's okay
When you start trying to lose weight rather than gain weight, your eating habits become way more important. I count macros daily since I'm a vegetarian, and sometimes I don't eat the right amount of Protein. Macros also become very important when it comes to achieving fitness goals. But sometimes...I don't think about the quality of the food, as long as it fit my macros.
This doesn't work so well when you're tying to lose weight and those donuts someone brought into work make you tired and bloated. Before you know it, you skipped gym day to take a nap, and you start remembering how god life was before you started working out. Try not to fall back into the cycle
Getting into shape take a lot of planning, discipline, and dedication. There are going to be a lot of lifestyle changes that come along with trying to lost weight. Hopefully, these tips will help you move past the little set backs, and help you become a genuin gym person.
