Moving into college sounds like a great and exciting experience. However, the actual act of moving in is far from that. Anyone who has moved into college can testify to this. Here are some ways on how to survive move-in day.

1. Water!

You're most likely moving in on a hot morning during the summer. Cold water will be your best friend

2. Be patient.

You and 500 other people are going to be moving in at the same time. There will be waiting in the stairwells while dropping your bags to the ground wondering if you will ever make it to your room.

3. Bring a fan.

It doesn't matter if your dorm has AC or not. You'll want that extra blast of cool air after running around all morning like a chicken with its head cut off.

4. IKEA bags.

The savior of move in day. They are easy to pack and you can fit multiple in your car without a problem. Invest in these.

5. Having multiple bodies.

"The more the merrier" is my motto. It will save you from running up and down the stairs a million times and lugging your everywhere.

6. Pack light.

There will be an urge to pack your entire wardrobe. Don't. You'll thank me later after only bringing two bags of clothes to school and having them fit in your dresser.

7. Arrange timing with your roommate.

You don't want to be moving in the same time as your roommate. It makes it so much harder to arrange your tiny part of the room. Stagger the times so you can give each other space.

8. Label your bags.

Put your name and room number on every bag. Also, label what's in each bag. It will be so much easier to find those sheets when you know exactly which bag they're in.

9. Ask the volunteers for help!

It's their job to help you move your stuff up to your room. Don't try to do it all by yourself!

10. Find the closest stairwell to your room.

When you first check in find the closest stairwell to your room. It's much easier than lugging all your stuff down the crowded hallway only to find out the next day your room was right next to one.

11. Have fun!

Move in day should be fun and exciting. You're starting a new chapter in your life. Don't be afraid to have a little fun during this whole process.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
