5 Simple Tips To Survive Finals Week

Don't Give Up! You're Almost There

If you're anything like me, then anything remotely having anything to do with putting more effort into your studies than normal sucks big time. Basically, when finals week rolls around the corner, we all turn into demented college students who act like they've never seen a book before when we try to burrow ourselves into the library and bring our 48 average up to a 90 in seven days.

It's fine, we all do it.

But here are a few ways to make this miserable week a little bit more tolerable (at least you can trick your mind into thinking this by these tips).

1. Make your study space comfortable.

But do NOT make it too comfortable or you'll more than likely end up falling asleep. Some things I like to do are light some candles that smell like Christmas around the room I'm studying in (unless you're in the library, that's probably not ok), and get a nice cup of coffee with some snacks to keep around while I'm studying. This makes studying a little bit more comfortable and possible when it comes to finals.

2. Motivate yourself.

When I say this, reward yourself with things throughout the studying process. For example, for every 2 hours that you study, reward yourself by taking a break to watch a quick episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S on Netflix or going to get some ice cream or something. Have something that makes you want to finish your two straight hours of studying.

3. Keep your eye on the prize.

Finals sucks, but having a degree and making money doesn't. Have things to remind yourself that this crappy time of studying non-stop and having tests harder than imaginable will all be worth it in the end when you're chillin' in your loft in NYC with J Cole in 8 years. Eye on the prize baby, eye on the prize.

4. Have a study playlist.

I know when I study I always have to be listening to music. But certain types of music and certain songs make me want to get up and dance rather than sit down and study for Anatomy, so make a playlist that will be chill and help you focus. Even instrumental songs can help your mind to relax and focus on the things you need to get done.

5. Don't run yourself dry.

When saying this I mean don't spend 9+ hours straight in the library killing yourself over one class. Take some breaks and do some things for yourself. Don't put off studying completely, but staying up until 5am every night and getting up early that morning to do everything isn't doing you as much justice as you might think it is. Chill out, study a good amount, but make sure you're getting enough sleep, food, and doing some things that put you in a good mood.

I hope these generalized study tips for finals helps. Always remember, studying is important, but so is making sure you're getting sleep and eating a healthy amount. Don't kill yourself over one class, but make sure you're keeping focus on the main goal. Good luck and kick a$$ on these exams!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
