We are so good at saying that we aren't good enough, but honestly do we even know what defines being "good enough?"
So often I get caught up in the fact that I am trying to become who I think I should be and lose who I actually need to be. I forget that there is more to me than trying to be a student, trying to be a friend, trying to be a daughter, trying to be a sister. Before I can be anything I have to be me.
I get lost in the fact that I need to get good grades or be there for my friends and family, and while all of that is good what about me?
Selfish, I know.
Ephesians 5:29 says "for no one has ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and tenderly cares for it, as the Messiah does the church."
God did not call us to put ourselves before everyone else, but He did call us to take care of ourselves so that we can take care of others. We have to realize that we can't just give everything to other people. We have to find our own value in Christ to see how He values others.
Mark 12:31 "the second is equally important: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. No other commandment is greater than these."
Answer this - how do you love your neighbor the way you love yourself if you don't even know your own worth? Do you love them with how much the world values you? Of course not.
God saw a worth in you so large that he took the brightest gem in Heaven and put it on a cross.
That is how much worth you have. That is how you are able to stop and see that while you are a student, a friend, a daughter, and everything else you are, you are also you and THAT IS ENOUGH.
Honestly, not only is that enough - it's more than enough. It was more than enough for God to say "she is worth sacrificing my son for."
So when you are losing yourself in who you think you should remember who you need to be - you. Remember that the only thing all of the hats you wear have in common is the person wearing them.
No one else can be exactly who and where you are right now.
Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one more alive that is youer than you." Dr. Seuss
Even though you may hear that quote every other day, see its truth. Realize that in the midst of a world that needs you to be more of someone else, the only person you truly need to be is exactly who you are and who you are becoming.
