Since the Internet's creation, it has evolved with the world around it. We are given opportunities to connect with people whom we would never have access to, and can learn about the things going on around us.
But with these wonderful additions Internet adds to our life, there are always people who will jump at the opportunity to rain on the parade. What exactly does this include? Cancel culture. Something that has recently plagued platforms such as Twitter and Youtube.
It's common knowledge that celebrities are broadcasted to the public and that they are held to unrealistic standards. We as consumers and fans are allowed a small peek into their daily life's through social media, some taking it to think they "know" said influencer and taking the liberty on commenting on every flaw they find.
Cancel culture especially uses a mob mentality to ruin a person career based on (usually harmless) drama. Now depending on the severity of the offense, most of the issues are blown way out of proportion.
Everyone makes mistakes, but when your life is available to the public, there is little room for forgiveness. People compare mistakes made by influencers to the same offense as crimes against humanity, but in my opinion just because one celebrity has deemed someone canceled, doesn't mean they deserve to have their social blade go in the red.
Unless someone is actively hurting a community of people, are visibly acting deceitful and inconsiderate to others, there should be room for an explanation.
There are so many other real-life issues affecting citizens, and maybe instead of pouring our energy into canceling influencers based on pointless rumors just to have drama channels cover the events, we could be helping real-life people with real-life problems.
