Every memory of my first year of college involves you.

It's Time To Thank Your First College Best Friend

I was so nervous about college and felt as though no one would understand.

Then you walked in, with the same nervous smile. You towered over me, which definitely intimidated me, but then you introduced yourself and put your bags in the room right next to mine.

There’s a saying that goes something like, “Friendship is weird. You pick a human you’ve met and you’re like, yup, I like this one, and you just do stuff with them.”

You, my very first friend, were that person.

Every memory of my first year of college involves you. From the late study nights to the parties on the weekends to the midnight runs to get food. You were always the person I wanted to go with. My favorite memory of the times we spent together was the paint party. It was our first on-campus event of our first year and to this day I still have paint in my ears! We were both so excited to go, you’re so outgoing and you made friends with the people we were in line with.

That's one thing I admire most, your outgoing and amazing beautiful personality. You're heart is bigger than anyone I know and I am truly thankful for the person you are. You have so many awesome qualities and your personality matches so well with mine. I will always be so incredibly grateful for you.

They say your first year at college is where you find your niche, your place at school. My place, became our place, with our friends and the memories we made together. I was so scared that making friends would be hard, but you just made it so much easier. You helped me grow out of my shell, and become a more outgoing and energetic person. Thank you for always being there. Thank you for being my person.

You made my transition here at school so much easier. Making a friend at orientation was the best thing I could have done. But because it was you, which made it so much better. Even though we didn’t live together, you were always there. Whenever I need you, you’d drop everything and come. I am so thankful for orientation, because it’s the day I met my best friend.

You are my person.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
