It's Time To Start Embracing Your BeYOUtiful Self

Life is too short to try to be like everyone else

It's Time To Start Embracing Your BeYOUtiful Self
Irene Dávila

When you get ready in the morning, what is your primary goal? Is it to find an outfit and put on makeup in a way that embraces and radiates who you are? Or is something in the back of your mind saying you should wear this, and you should do that, because people will judge otherwise and you won’t fit into society’s definition of attractive? If it’s the latter, it’s time to start embracing your beYOUtiful self.

As a woman, it can be really difficult to get ready every morning without considering what everyone else is going to think about you. Are people going to look at you funny? Will people say things behind your back? Will you be considered unattractive? These questions sometimes dominate our subconscious without us really noticing.

When you went shopping last, did you buy the clothes you liked, or did you choose to buy the expensive ones that made you feel like you would be safe from other people’s judgments? Do you do your eyebrows because you personally want to and like the way it makes you look, or because you’re afraid of what people may think if you don’t?

Women have a lot of unfair standards that have been set up for them, especially when it comes to appearance. Society sometimes fails to realize that being yourself is what makes you beautiful, not the brands of the clothes you wear and the makeup you choose to put on everyday. What makes every woman so beautiful is the fact that they are their own individual with their own tastes and preferences that make them who they are.

Nothing about you is ugly. Everything about you is unique. You are beautiful no matter what outfit you decide to wear. You are beautiful whether or not you like to wear makeup. You are beautiful no matter what hairstyle you choose to rock. You are beautiful because you’re YOU.

It’s time to start embracing who you are and whatever your personal style may be. Life is too short to try to be like everyone else. There is only one of you. There will only ever be one of you. So be YOU. Do more than just blend into the crowd.

From now on, take pride in who you are. Stress less about fitting into everyone else’s idea of how you should look, and focus more on how you want to look. Unfortunately, there are going to be people who will judge you no matter what you do and how you look. You can’t stop this, but what you can stop is not feeling true to yourself.

Be confident in you, because you are one of a kind. No one else can be you. Think of who you will be years down the road. Will you be someone you’re proud to be or will you be someone still trying to please others? When the time comes for you to reflect on your life, you should be able to proudly reminisce on how you showed the world who you were: your unique, beautiful self.

You are more than one in a million. You are the only one of you who will ever walk the face of this Earth. Own it. Be proud of it. Show the world who YOU are and flaunt your beYOUtiful self with the confidence and pride you know you have inside of you.

Dress comfy, dress sporty, or dress girly. Wear makeup or don’t wear makeup. Do your hair or keep it natural. Do anything that you want and that makes you comfortable and happy with who you are. Don’t let people’s negative looks, comments, or opinions hinder you from being who you are. No one else can do you better than you.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
