Once one starts to deal with many different responsibilities in life, there tends to be a pressure to be able to consistently perform in all responsibilities taken on by the individual. Being able to consistently perform on a weekly basis on a busy schedule tends to lead to stress and can lead to an individual not being able to focus on a direct short term goal in order to accomplish all the responsibilities set forth for them.
When one does not efficiently manage their time, one tends to not be able to consistently produce results in the long run. There are three steps to efficiently saving time and compact all activities into time slots that will be able to help an individual stay focused on short term goals that eventually lead into a long term goal.
Creating a Schedule
The first of the three steps to take in order to manage time properly is to create a schedule. A schedule allows an individual to properly focus on short term goals and do activities within certain time slots that will allow them to get work done consistently and in a timely manner. Any time saved to complete a task will allow an individual time to rest and alleviate stress of doing a substantial amount of work.
A schedule also allows one to time things beforehand since certain time slots will be occupied with work or other responsibilities, so one can add a few minutes elsewhere to do other activities.
Make a Routine around your Schedule
Once a schedule is created, one can now try and create a routine around their schedule. Essentially, go a few weeks under the schedule that you created and see how it works for you. Make some tweaks to your schedule until you find a schedule that works best for you, and then create a routine around that schedule.
A person can get into a routine after a few weeks of adjusting to their new schedule. This allows them to get into a rhythm, so that time seemingly passes by quicker when following the schedule.
Stay Loyal to your Schedule
Now that one has created a schedule and made a routine around their schedule, the important thing now is to stay loyal to it. When one does not stay loyal to their schedule, it essentially devalues the schedule created, leading to inefficient use of time management.
Staying loyal to a schedule shows others that you are consistent and reliable, and will tend to want to work more with you and trust you to do small tasks for them, or ask for your advice.
With these three steps, one should be able to manage time very well. The core of time management is creating a schedule that works for you in order for you to get things done on time and to alleviate stress.
