Sometimes when the semester is picking up, work is getting increasingly more challenging and you want to do so many things, you forget you have to do the simple things like eating and taking time to relax too. It's a normal routine we fall into when life gets busy and the feeling of being overwhelmed starts to rebuild itself into our minds. However, it's not healthy to have your schedule written down from hour to hour in order to pencil in a time to eat dinner and watch a 30-minute show. It happens, but it should not be something we consider to be "normal" if it starts to genuinely stress us out.
Life goes by fast. It's beyond important to take time for yourself because otherwise, you'll forget what being happy truly is all about. You need to take time to watch that stupid guilty pleasure Netflix show and go shopping with your friends. If you're constantly working and don't even have time to take a deep breath and call someone you have been dying to talk to, you need to take a step back and recognize that you deserve a break.
Studying for an excessive number of hours a day and working until you feel like you're about to pass out is not something you can do every single day without feeling exhausted and drained. There is nothing wrong with taking time for yourself regardless of what other people tell you or what is going on in your life.
Breaks and relaxation are just as important as being productive. If you can't remember the last time you truly had fun and relaxed, you deserve to stop what you're doing and entertain yourself with something that will change your mood. Watch a movie, go for a walk, go to yoga or spend time with a friend you have not seen in a while. Your work can wait, to an extent, and an hour-long break (or even longer) will not kill you.
Life, whether you're in college or working, can be undeniably stressful and you have to take care of yourself. Don't forget to take a deep breath and recognize that you're going to be okay.
