For some people, the start of a new year could mean it's time for a "new you". Whether it's a change in style or a change in personality, the beginning of a new year provides the perfect opportunity to start fresh and leave the previous year in the past. When going into the new year, keep an open mind and try new things (you never know what new opportunities might be just around the corner). If you want to begin the new year with a new you, here are 10 simple tips to help you get started.

1. Change up your style

Tired of your same old outfits? Now's the time to go through your closet and get rid of the clothes you never wear and start fresh. Experiment with funky patterns or different colors and find a style that fits the new you.

2. Try out a new hair cut

If you're like me, you might have had the same hairstyle since middle school. If you are feeling a little adventurous this year, switch it up by dyeing your hair a new color or getting a different cut.

3. A new year might also mean new people

Sometimes, a change of friends might be what you need to start the new year with a happier and more positive attitude. If you were surrounded by negative people who were holding you back, branch out and find friends that motivate you instead.

4. Find a new hobby

Pursuing your passions is key for this year. Try to set aside time to do what you love or maybe find new hidden talents.

5. Change your diet

There are many ways to change this year, but one of the most important ways is by changing how you eat. Instead of reaching for a pizza or potato chips, try reaching for healthier alternatives like fruits and veggies. Eating right has so many benefits, but most importantly keeps your body healthy.

6.Break Old Habits

Make a promise to yourself that this year, you are going to stop those pesky, bad habits once and for all

7. Exercise

Sometimes, all we need is a little exercise to feel refreshed. There are plenty of ways to exercise that do not require a gym. A quick walk or jog around the neighborhood or even following along to a fitness video is all you need to stay fit and healthy during the new year.

8. Give back

it is so easy to get so caught up in our own lives that we forget about those around us who are less fortunate. One of the most rewarding feelings is helping those in need and doing small acts of kindness for others. Take time to participate in volunteer opportunities in your own community, such as serving in a soup kitchen or your local nursing home.

9. Fix broken relationships

The start of a new year provides an opportunity for forgiveness. If you have a broken relationship, now might be the time to make up so that you can move on from the past.

10. Redecorate your space

If you just need a fresh start this year, try switching around your room, apartment or house. Target is a great place to look for cute home decor items. Just be creative and have fun changing around your space.

There are plenty of ways to reinvent yourself for the upcoming year and these are just a few. Do not be afraid to be adventurous this year and show off a bold, new you!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
