A baby in our mother's womb,
crying out and waking to unfamiliarity,
feels like we are just being able to walk on unstable ground,
Time ticked on and we now inhabit a dorm room.
Drowning in a sea of people, ideas, beliefs and newfound freedom,
Eyes opened wide to new opportunities that await us,
Grasping for familiarity but regretting for all eternity,
Grasping for lost friends, needing to let go of some.
Reflections being morphed to you, the real you,
On a quest to find who you want to be,
Memories imprinted on the sand of your heart,
Caps being thrown in the air, you are changed and you are new.
Time ticks on and we now hear wedding bells,
Our story written and our puzzle complete,
Little paw prints or footprints come along,
If there was harmony wouldn't that be swell.
Years go by, lines are climbing up the wall,
Time ticks on and on and on,
One door closes but another opens,
Your children are no longer small.
Happiness, laughter, sorrow, and tears,
but love prevails,
memories, successes, failures, love stories, heartbreaks and mistakes,
You are you, and you have grown throughout the years.
Where did time go?
Like playing hide and go seek with a child,
they're there one second then gone the next,
you search high and low.
Live in the moment,
love with all your heart,
leave regrets in the past,
hold the ones you love near,
but just remember time flies throughout the years.
