I will admit that I’m a huge nerd. I obsess over books, comics, movies, trivia, and television shows. Some of the best entertainment that we have ends up changing society. Thanks to early science-fiction television the direction of technology changed. I’ve always been fascinated with all the topics that science-fiction covers. Possibly the implications of reliance on technology or the importance of equality amongst people, whether it’d be someone from your own planet or an alien. The genre is so vast and encompasses so many types of topics. But, the one that I’ve always been fascinated with is time-travel.
The concept itself is so complex that it will keep you thinking forever. It’s truly fascinating to think about from every angle. There are so many possible theories about time-travel and even if it could be made into a reality. I won’t go into the boring details, but it’s definitely something that I wish could be studied more in an academic setting. There’s so many different ways to look about it. From either an actual scientific study, to the social effects, to the historical repercussions it’s overwhelming.
But, if you think about it everyone wishes they could travel through time. So many movies, television shows, songs, and books have been written about it. Don’t you think it would be cool to travel to the year 2062 and meet your future grandchildren? Or be able to attend Woodstock? Once you get past the science of it all, it’s definitely something everyone can relate to and would want to experience for their own reasons.
The saying goes that history repeats itself. And it does, but I would love to be able to see history being made in person. Time-travel has always captured the curiosity of people, but, it’s always been assumed that it’s impossible. The one thing science can’t do is manipulate the laws of psychics. And there are so many possible ways that it could backfire. I guess you also have to ask yourself if the future is already written, or can a person change what’s in store for them?
This has always been something that has fascinated me. There are an infinite amount of questions I have. I don’t believe that time-travel is possible or will ever be possible; which is quite heartbreaking for many reasons. As a history major I dedicate my time to learning about the past of humankind. The possibility to be able to see that in person is something that I wish I could experience.
But, time-travel and all of science-fiction is something that fascinates me. There are so many layers to it all, which is also a good description for life. Hopefully someday my future turns out okay. I wish I could look in a crystal ball and do a quick check-in. But, for now I’ll hope that someday I could go anywhere anytime.
