The beginning of the semester has officially fallen upon us in these last few weeks and, if you're anything like me, you were in no way prepared for it to happen this quickly. Every school year seems to creep up faster than the previous year; especially when you start working through summer break. The last thing you want to do is let this set you back in your schoolwork.
It's normal to feel out of step your first week or two of classes. It's after that first couple of weeks that you have a problem if you're still feeling this way. But fear not!
Here are three simple tips to help you get back into your groove this semester.
1. Keep track of all of your schedules.
Whether or not you want to keep a planner, you should still keep track of your schedule every week. Not just your class schedule, but your work schedule and any extracurriculars you may have. From there, you can schedule specific times to study and do work. This will help you feel a little more motivated to get these things done and manage your time better. You can even go as far as scheduling downtime to help with stress.
2. Write down a checklist of all your assignments for each week.
You can even do this in the notes app on your phone if it makes it easier, but you should always have some sort of checklist with your schoolwork. Trying to remember every little thing you need to do for school will only end up adding to your stress. You're also more likely to forget an assignment due date.
3. Work on your stress management.
This is arguably the most important thing you need to work on in order to stay on top of everything this semester. Everyone experiences stress in different ways, and therefore, everyone has different coping mechanisms. So, I won't try to tell you how to handle your stress, but I will say to be mindful of your stress.
Whether you're going into your first year of college or your last, hopefully, you can use this to make the best of your year!
