There Is NBA Potential That Goes Largely Unnoticed

The draft has passed, but there are still a couple of guys that didn't make the initial cut out there looking to still make a name for themselves in the league.

These guys who get passed on are placed into the free agent pool with the rest of the NBA players looking for a team willing to take a chance on their talent. These players have some of the best potentials because by coming in with lower expectations, they have the chance calmly step into the league and show off their talent rather than trying to live up to the hype of their draft spot. These are just a few of the "under the radar" players to watch out for now that they have signed with a team, while still carrying a chip on their shoulder after being passed on in the draft.

Trevon Duval, the guard out of Duke, had a pretty disappointing draft night as he went from being projected as at least a top 50 prospect to out of the draft entirely. After recently signing with the Houston Rockets, Duval will have to prove himself in the summer league as he looks to earn a spot on the second best team in the Western Conference. Coming off a freshman season where he averaged 10.3 points per game and led the ACC in assists with 5.6 a game, Duval consistently showed that his athleticism and court vision can translate to the next level.

His biggest issue is EFFICIENCY. Duval shot 42.8% from the field, 29% from the 3 point line and 59.6% from the free throw line. Today's NBA requires proficient 3 point shooting and converting off easy baskets which Duval's metrics prove he needs to improve on. This is a guy back at IMG Academy that was being called "The Next Russell Westbrook", which is a really high ceiling for him if he can improve his efficiency.

And let's not forget that he played along Marvin Bagley III (taken 2nd overall), Wendell Carter Jr. (taken 7th overall) and Grayson Allen (taken 21st overall) which easily could've easily minimized his role as a playmaker on a Duke team that was dominated by collegiate star power. Houston might be getting a steal with this guy.

Gary Clark, coming out of Cincinnati, has a lot to build off on after signing with the Houston Rockets despite going undrafted. This past season he averaged 10.8 points per game and 7.9 rebounds per game while also shooting 52.6% from the floor, 43.5% from the three-point line and 74.1% from the free throw line. Clark has the potential to be a solid rebounding big off the bench that could also chip in a good six to eight points a game as somewhat of a "Tristan Thompson" type (I'm talking about Tristan Pre-Kardashian). Clark also shows good potential with the fact that he was named a player of the year in the ACC, a division that produced Marvin Bagley III and Wendell Carter who were both players that went in the Top seven and played the exact same position as him. Seems like Houston might flex their muscles a little more going into next season after possibly having two potentially big sleeper pickups.

Billy Preston, considered as just another player finessed by the NCAA, found himself off the Kansas Jayhawks and unfortunately undrafted. Due to missing this entire past collegiate season due to an indefinite suspension regarding a single vehicle accident he was involved in, Preston's stock fell dramatically in comparison to where it was prior to his commitment to Kansa, but regardless his raw skill alone was able to still earn him an invite to the NBA Combine. Measuring at 6'9 with a 7'2 wingspan, Preston showed in high school that he could be a perfect fit in today's NBA where the rise of the position-less player and the dependency on three-point shooting from all positions has increased in popularity. I think that after signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, regardless of whether Lebron James resigns or not, pairing Preston with Collin Sexton could definitely be a talented young pairing to help either lead their rebuild or improve their young talent.

The NBA draft always has those "sleeper" players where when they finally step on the court they just shock you and make you ask "What made them fall so low in the draft?" or "How did nobody draft this kid?" I think all three of these players have that kind of impact and for there respective teams could make an impact early if they're able to crack their respective roster's rotation. Keep your eyes out for these guys as they may creep into the conversation when we're discussing the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
