When Inauguration day dawned upon us, and we watched as Trump was officially sworn in as the USA's 45th president, some of us were probably walking around in a daze of disbelief and worry about the future. I know I was.
Instead of all of us worrying for some time and eventually falling back into a routine of apathy towards politics, it's crucial that we do not stop paying attention to this man who has become our president. We should keep ourselves aware of his endeavors and the tasks he plans on undertaking. As always, awareness is the key to combating ignorance.
So, without further ado, here is a list of three things Trump has already done as the 45th president of the United States.
1) Making a move against Obamacare
On his first day in office, while the rest of us were still mourning the exit of Obama, Trump signed an executive order that, according to the CNN, "directs the secretary of health and human services, as well as other agencies, to interpret regulations as loosely as allowed to minimize the financial burden on individuals, insurers, health care providers and others." Many Republicans in Congress are in agreement that the act should be repealed as well.
2) Firing all foreign US ambassadors
Trump made a demand that they all leave by mid-day on the day of his inauguration, (those chosen by Obama), but has no replacements set up.
3) Raised mortgage bills
According to USA Today, during the first day of Trump's presidency, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development sent out a letter to lenders and others that suspended "the 0.25 percentage point premium rate cut for Federal Housing Administration-backed loans." According to senator Chuck Schumer, that very cut could have saved homeowners on a $200000 mortgage around $29 a month.
