Valentine's Day is undoubtedly a day that is meant to be full of love, fun, and sweetness. Remember how seriously it was taken in elementary school? We were definitely not into the dating scheme yet, but it was a nice opportunity to exchange cards with your favorite television characters and your favorite candy with classmates and nothing negative was allowed to be said. Nowadays, it is a bit more complicated; granted, there will always be candy, cards, and flowers for that special person, but it has to be a very special person, or Valentine's Day may as well just be any normal day.

However, is it really that bad to be single on Valentine's Day? Well, in the scheme of things in the real world, I would say not really. Between college, jobs, work, and life in general, it's already a pretty busy life! So here are five reasons that being single on Valentin'es day just isn't THAT bad.

1. More time for you to focus on your priorities!

Ah, college. The life of meeting new people, trying to maintain a consistent sleep and work schedule (yeah, right), and most importantly, figuring out priorities. While having a soulmate is undoubtedly a nice thing to have in the worst of times, it is also a huge commitment. One big thing to ask yourself is, "Do I have the time to devote to dates, or do I need to focus more on this class for my career?"

2. Most of, if not all, of your closest friends are most likely single as well

As a non-people person, I am friends with a bunch of people who generally are not too outgoing, or have thousands of Instagram followers or Facebook friends (really?). Therefore, they also know whether a relationship is right for them or not. And from what I've experienced with some of my buddies, college is an extremely busy lifestyle, and honestly at the end of the day, nothing beats a night with the boys.

3. There are always ways to treat your self!

There are plenty of ways to treat yourself as a matter of fact! Whether they would be to splurge on that dessert, drink, or even some extra sleep (any college student's priority and dream come true), you deserve a major treat sometimes, especially after a long day at work, or a long week!

Overall, being single may seem like you're being left out, but all in all, if you're like me, then it's a healthy dream come true!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
