We're More Than Just Two Peas In A Pod, We're Three

Two may be better than one, but three is even better than two.

We're More Than Just Two Peas In A Pod, We're Three

There are so many stereotypes associated with a "3-person friend group." The idea that two people are closer than the third, and someone is always left out is something that everyone assumes to be true. For nearly all of my previous experiences, this is unfortunately totally the case. But when I met my two best friends this past year, something was just different.

From the very start, we were three peas in a pod. "The triplets," as we like to think of ourselves, are my two very best friends. All with long brown hair and within a quarter of an inch of one another, just over 5 feet, we are a unique group. We are always seen together, and if just 2 of us are seen, we are constantly questioned about the third. We do everything together: from studying to meals, shopping to even being roommates, we are more than just sisters, we're triplets.

In some ways, we are the same people. We are performers, perfectionists, and overall very loving and caring people. We are obsessed with organization, and we have very similar families. In other ways, we are completely different. We are all very different types of students and come from very different hometowns. But the things that make us best friends are not any of those.

The things that make us triplets are the times we spend together. It's the way we support one another. It's the way we know what the other is thinking before we even say it. It's the way that we are always there for one another, in the good times, and in the bad. It's the way that I always know that there are 2 more closets to dress me, 2 more families to call my own, 2 more best friends who are always up for an adventure.

These are the girls who I miss when we are away for only a day. They are the ones who I FaceTime when we are a 5-minute walk from each other, but I just cannot wait for that amount of time to talk. They are the first people who I want to tell my news to, the ones whose parents I call in an emergency, and whose siblings I Snapchat daily. I walk into their houses as though they are mine, and my family talks about them as though they are their own.

To my two very best friends: thank you. Words simply cannot describe how incredibly grateful I am to our university and to our sorority for bringing us together. Never in a million years could I have imagined that I would be blessed with the best 2 girls in the entire world to call my best friends. You two bring out the very best in me. Even the time when you drive me crazy and make me want to scream, there are no other 2 people in this world who I would rather call my triplet sisters. I love y'all to Minnesota and back, and know that no matter what, I'll forever be there for you and I'm always going to be just a FaceTime away!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
