When you think about it, there's never really a good time to get sick. Well, unless you're still in grade school, that is. But if you're like the millions of college students who work AND go to school full time, you'll know that coming down with the common cold is one of the worst things Mother Nature and your immune system can do to you. So, as we head into fall and work ourselves to death, let's go over the 16 thoughts college kids have when they're coming down with a cold

1. This cannot be happening right now.

There's no way I could be getting sick. I wash my hands and I always have hand sanitizer on me!

2. It's probably just allergies and I'm overreacting

Giphy

This is the time of year for it....right?

3. If I can just make it through this week, I can afford to get sick next week

Giphy

As if you can bargain with your immune system on when it finally crashes.

4. I swear to God, I'm going to kill the person that gave this cold to me

Giphy

It wasn't their fault, but they're going to pay for this.

5. How can I rearrange my schedule so that I can get 20 hours of sleep in 2?

Giphy

I'm no expert, but there has to be a way.

6. Okay, maybe I am getting sick.

Giphy

7. Yup. I am down for the count

Giphy

8. I don't want to get anyone else sick, but I can't miss any classes

Giphy

But I'm also dying and can't stop sneezing every thirty seconds.

9. Okay, well, if I go to this class, I can miss that one since that one doesn't have a quiz

Giphy

10. Since my 10am is a lecture, I can just study for my exam at 2pm.

Giphy

11. I would rather be run over by a semi truck than go to work right now

Giphy

12. Was I supposed to do homework after work?

Giphy

13. Is any of this even real or am I just having a fever induced hallucination?

Giphy

14. If I get a doctor's note, can I be excused for the rest of my life?

Giphy

15. I'm going to be sick forever.

Giphy

16. I remember the good old days when I used to be able to breathe out of my nose.

Giphy

How I took those days for granted. *sniffle*

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
