Returning to school for the spring semester means a mixture of emotions.

Cha Companies

Returning to your college campus for the spring semester means a lot of things. For starters, it means returning to the busy weekly schedule of a college student. There will be no more sleeping past noon (unless, of course, you’re fortunate enough to have a day off from morning classes.) It means returning to late night study sessions and three cups of coffee a day. It means drowning in essays and spending hours at the library.

But returning to school isn’t as negative as it may seem. In fact, in my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons. Being back on campus means reuniting with friends you haven’t seen since prior to break. It means hanging out with your roommates again 24/7. There will be no more complaining about being bored and having no one to hang out with. Rather, it means beginning to complain about not having any alone time.

With all of the mixture of emotions that comes with a new semester, I’ve devised a list of thoughts and complaints every college student can relate to:

“I haven’t set an alarm in over a month!”

“Do I really have to wake up at 8 am?”

“Do I really have to get out of bed right now?”

“Does missing the first day of class make a bad impression?”

“I mean it is only syllabus week.”

“Has the walk always been this long?”

“Have people always walked this slow?”

“Why are we starting chapter one of the first day of class?”

“I don’t even have my textbooks yet!”

“Why must textbooks be so expensive?”

“Can I pass an entire semester without them?”

“Probably not.”

“God, I am so broke.”

“But I really don’t want to walk to the dining hall for dinner.”

“I wonder if my roommates want to order Chinese food tonight.”

“I should have just walked to the dining hall.”

“How do I already have so much work to do… it’s only the first week!”

“I’m just going to watch one more episode before starting that essay.”

“How is it already midnight?!”

“I am going to hate myself for this in the morning.”

“I can’t wait to go out for the first time this semester!”

“It’ll be so great to see everyone again!”

“I love my school.”

Despite my constant complaining, college life is pretty amazing. I absolutely love it here!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
