The first week of school is upon us, and every year the same cycle happens. You put off your summer homework until the last week, savor every moment spent asleep, and try to reteach yourself how to handle stress (and then fail miserably).
When you're in high school, going back to school doesn't even compare to the days of elementary school when your supplies were glitter and crayons. Now all we get are boring notebooks and folders to carry all your future, headache-inducing work in.
I'll be the first to admit I'm not looking forward AT ALL to going back to school. It's stressful, you get little sleep, and you have so much homework at times that you may burst into tears just by looking at your history textbook.
Numbers will again define your worth... A grade determines your teachers' respect for you, and friendships are more likely to crumble under the intense pressure that school places upon us.
Going back to school is just plain awful. There's no way to sugar coat it. It's never a fresh start because your past will always come back to haunt you, you have to deal with people walking ridiculously slow in the hallways, and worst of all, you have to see all those stupid couples making out in between classes like one of them is going off to war. Everything is ludicrous (and not in the fun rapper way).
I'm already tired, and the year hasn't even started yet. Cheers to all you kiddos who think that this is gonna be “your year”. I'm gonna take a nap.
