We're All Just Kids

Yet, we are so afraid of time...

We’re all just kids, afraid of the truth in our face. Never quite liking the thoughts of change. Yeah we’re all just kids, scared of the mouths of fate, saying something real, wishing we all were special enough that we won’t be replaced, by the bodies of time, by the hairs so grey.

And the bumper cars they hit and break, and we locked our eyes but you said nothing. You ran with my heart, but I stayed in place. And I look at you now, with that sun-kissed face that never got too close to me. Yeah we’re all just kids and we wait and wait, for that moment where the darkness makes, us bright.

Yeah we’re all just kids and the paper’s stuck, in the copy machine that’s always in a rut, and you’re living on coffee, praying for luck, and you’re holding on to coins we used to wish on, and you’re diving through fountains for youth instead, still afraid of the truth so now you’re holding it back, and we’re holding and holding, and our fists are all balled and our heads are all bald and our coins are old and the sun is cold, yeah even the lights and stars won’t shine anymore because we’re not afraid of the dark.

Yeah we’re all just kids, but we leave it behind. Who needs roses to grow when the rosebushes die? Yeah we’re all just kids and we lie and we lie, but it used to be called imagining lives that were far from the one where you see bumper cars are really attached to metal pipes that spin around and around.

Yeah we’re all just kids and we wanna be spun around the room, with our skirts in the air, strong hands in our hands, spinning us wild that there’s no there here, and I can’t see, who I am.

Yeah we’re just kids and we laugh and we cry. When the sand castles fall from the ocean tides. Why do we let them go? Over the sand we know will fade? Why do we cry so hard? Over the grains of time, again? When each lick is just a lucky draw and each day you have is the longest straw in the strongest hand and you just can hope you won’t pick the shortest stick, of them all?

But what we now think is silly to cry over, kids would laugh at YOU for what you’re crying on now.

It’s beyond the bodies of time, somehow.

So don’t fall.

So don’t break.

So don’t wait.

So don’t change

So don’t fear.

Don’t be scared.

Of time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
