It's only few weeks until the Highlander family comes back to Radford, but for a transfer student it's a completely different experience. You're not a Freshman but you still feel new! You have to worry about transferring classes over, but also fitting in and making friends! The pile of paperwork you had to fill out to get here looks smaller and less now in comparison, but the thoughts of dread still remains.

How you feel inside:

VS

How you feel outside:

Here are some of the thoughts you may have this summer while getting ready to transfer to Radford:

1. Yep. I'm transferring.

2. I've already taken a college class you don't need to give me the freshman speech.

3. Yes, I'm aware of the results of alcoholism.

4. I need to get all my shots.

5. Have I turned in all of my paperwork?

6. What are the dorms going to look like?

7. What are the classes going to be like?

8. Are the classes going to be harder?

9. Is there going to be a lot of homework?

10. Should I bring my printer?

11. What's the food going to be like?

12. Is my roommate going to be weird?

13. Are we going to get along?

14. What if he/she ends up being a serial killer?

15. What if I end being a serial killer?

16. That's not going to happen.

17. But what if he/she snores?

18. What if I get lost?

19. How do I use the RU app?

20. Do I even want to live in the dorms?

21. When can I start using the gym?

22. What do I pack?

23. How am I going to move all this stuff?

24. Maybe I should bring my car.

25. Or get an apartment.

26. How am I going to get my car up the giant hills?

27. What's the weather going to be like?

28. I need new rain boots.

29. Maybe some snow boots too.

30. Maybe I should email my advisor one more time.

31. What if all my classes don't transfer?

32. Will I fail out of school?

33. Fall break is only a couple months away!

34. Seriously, what do I pack?

35. How am I going to survive living an hour away from a mall?

36. Will I have to repeat a year?

37. My oceanography class better not count as an elective!

38. What if people think I'm weird?

39. What if I don't make friends?

40. What if everyone's weird?

41. Everything will be fine.

Take a deep breath, transfers. The wait is almost over. You will be at Radford soon enough and all your questions will be answered. You don't need a crystal ball to tell you that! Good luck my fellow transferring Highlanders and I will see you in a few short weeks.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
