For most of us, internships are the stepping stones into the business world. This can be pretty intimidating when most of your past summers have consisted of working at an ice cream shop or something not nearly as professional. Here are some thoughts we all have on the first day at an internship.
Getting ready like...
Overthinking things starts turning into..
"What if I rip my pants and have to walk around the office with ripped pants?"
This is when the rest of the irrational thoughts start kicking in.
"What if I rip my pants and can't sing the lyrics to Spongebob's "Ripped Pants" because I'm in a professional environment??"
*Sings song quietly in head for the remainder of the morning*
After getting your Starbucks and still being right on schedule...
But then, of course, you can't be on time for your first day, that would be too easy.
Inevitably getting stuck behind someone driving 30 in a 45...
DRIVE FASTER SOME OF US HAVE PLACED TO BE, BUDDY! But you finally get to work.
Boss: "Okay, you're going to start on the monthly digital financing reports."
The boss then goes on to thoroughly explain something that still makes no sense to you.
Boss: "Got it?" And you're like...
And then you realize that you have no idea what they meant. But by the end of the day, you give a sigh of relief and think,
"That really wasn't too bad."
Hey, I survived, I'm okay, In fact, you know what, I'm more than okay! I'm a bad-ass professional adult!
Who knows? Maybe I could even get a job someday!
Well, maybe let's not get ahead of ourselves quite yet.
