15 Thoughts That You May Be Thinking As A First Time Online School Student

Online learning can sound so wonderful that some students start with an unrealistic vision. I mean come on, online school??? Who would have thought?

Due to the Coronavirus, many schools have switched to online courses and may students (and teachers) are learning what it is like to homeschool for the first time ever. Of course, some students may actually prefer this to a regular in-person class.

So if it's your first time doing school online, here are 13 thoughts you might be having.

Since I have the entire week to do my work, I don't really have to do it all today.

Do I? I mean it WOULD mean more movie time.

I'm hungry, but I just ate.

Oh , the struggle.

Wait?? Homeschool is actually harder?

giphy

I mean you have to REALLY sit down and concentrate on your school work.

Concentrate. Concentrate. Concentrate.

giphy

It really is hard, because there are so many distractions.

What was I doing again?

How am I supposed to do *insert name of class here* online?

Followed by, "Is it actually even possible??"

Is this how homeschoolers actually feel about school?

giphy

The GIF says it all.

Wow, I have sooo much free time. Am I supposed to?

giphy

And the other follow up questions of "Shouldn't I have more work than I do?" or "Am I forgetting something?"

Virtual classes are kinda cool.

giphy

Who knew going to school with PJs and no make could be kinda nice for once.

I will literally still make my 9AM class, if I wake up at 8:55.

giphy

For me, that has been one of the cooler things about doing online school.

So, if I get everything done for the week now, I don't have to do any work the rest of the week??

BREAK TIIMMMMEEEE!!!

giphy

I mean you've been working for a sloid 5 mins, i think you deserve a break.

It's 12PM, I should prob start my classwork for today.

I may or may nor be guilty of this.

School from bed, heck yes!

giphy

Don't even have to change.

Work. Work. Work.

giphy

So much work.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
