As many of you already know, on Tuesday, Dec. 15, Masahiro Sakurai hosted the final "Super Smash Bros." Direct. In this 30-minute-long global broadcast, he gave details regarding newcomer Cloud and revealed new Mii fighter skins. However, these weren't the highlights of this presentation. Sakurai also announced the inclusion of two new fighters.
The first character revealed was Corrin, the main character from "Fire Emblem: Fates."
To be honest, my first reaction when seeing Corrin was one of disappointment. I never really got into the "Fire Emblem" series, so this guy/girl looked like just another Marth/Lucina/Roy to me. However, after watching his gameplay trailer, he does look pretty unique compared to the rest of the "Fire Emblem" cast, with him being able to turn into a dragon and all. As for the second character...
Yes, this is real! No, this isn't a dream or your eyes playing tricks on you! The final character announced for "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS" is Bayo-freakin-netta! She was apparently the number one Smash Ballot vote in Europe and the fifth in the United States (she was most likely outvoted there by Shrek, Cory in the House, Freddy Fazbear, and Home Depot). Words cannot express how much hype I am containing for this DLC. I mean, just look at this gameplay trailer!
This final "Smash Bros." Direct has truly been a bittersweet one. On one hand, there will probably be no more updates to the game. However, we have Corrin and Bayonetta to look forward to. It takes a lot of precious time and resources to create a game as great as this one, so I would like to give a huge "thank you" to Masahiro Sakurai and the "Smash Bros." development team for making this game possible. "Super Smash Bros." was truly a labor of love, and none of it would happen without Sakurai and everyone else on the dev team.
Wait, I think that there's another secret character reveal that I'm forgetting. Oh yeah, now I remember who it was!
Bluckles has been confirmed for Smash! I repeat: BLUCKLES HAS BEEN CONFIRMED FOR SMASH!
