My Thoughts During Game 7 Of The 2016 World Series, As Told By Snapchat

Baseball is America’s past-time and it is how I’ve been passing my time for the last couple of months, especially the last couple of weeks.

It has been 71 years since The Chicago Cubs have won the National League pennant and it has been 108 years since they won the World Series. Some fans attribute this drought to the Curse of the Billy Goat, wherein a fan (William Sianis) is believed to have said “Them Cubs, they ain’t gonna win no more,” when he and his goat were ejected from Wrigley Field during game 4 of the 1945 World Series. On the 46th anniversary of Sianis’ death, the Cubs beat the LA Dodgers to win the pennant. The team went on to officially end the curse and beat the Cleveland Indians after ten innings in game 7 with a score of 8-7.

I have family living in Chicago and I’ve been proudly wearing Cubs gear for years, so naturally emotions were running pretty high while watching the game.

Here is a timeline of my intense World Series viewing experience:

5:59 GO CUBBIES (pre-game)

6:39 CUBS CUBS CUBS CUBS

7:24 LET’S GO CUBS (3-1 bottom of 4th)

7:30 HOME RUN!!!! (4-1 top of 5th)

7:40 Oh Rizzo, you precious lad.

7:49 I AM IN LOVE LOOK AT THIS SCORE (5-1 bottom of 5th).

7:53 Cubs are killing it tonight!!! I am so freaking jazzed about this

8:00 Noooo (5-3 bottom of 5th)

8:07 Ahhhhhhhhh, I am having so many feelings about this game.

8:08 ANOTHER HOME RUN BY THE CUBS, YES! (6-3 top of 6th)

8:50 currently losing my mind (6-3 8th inning)

9:05 So glad I’m by myself for this game. I keep screaming and crying and there are a lot of emotions

9:11 AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH, no! (6-4 bottom of 8th)

9:15 I’m going to cry. (6-6 bottom of 8th)

9:17 I am crying.

9:21 Not exaggerating. Real tears are happening.

9:33 please call it safe...

9:35 To quote Rizzo from earlier tonight: “I’m an emotional wreck.” (6-6 top of 9th)

9:39 He’s on third, they can do it, I believe (6-6 top of 9th)

9:45 extra innings pleeeaaaasssseeeee!!! (6-6 9th inning)

9:55 Extra innings. Deep breaths. (6-6 10th inning)

10:03 I’m dizzy, I think I’ve been forgetting to breathe. I’m so stressed about this game. (6-6 rain delay)

10:13 I’m not emotionally stable enough for this game.

10:19 My heart might explode.

10:21 YYEEESSSSSSSSSS! (7-6 top of 10th)

10:22 My voice is going to be gone when this is done. So much screaming.

10:23 The Cubs just need to keep the score as it is or get another run and have that end it.

10:24 My neighbors probably think I’m being murdered (8-6 top of 10th)

10:25 happy crying, please let it end like this (8-6 top of 10th)

10:27 I have to mute all of my Snapchat video stories bc they’d break the sound barrier.

10:33 There is going to be a ditch in the carpet from my pacing.

10:35 This is so much.

10:43 Cleveland got a walk but there are two outs, we’re good. (8-6 bottom of 10th)

10:44 Someone please sedate me. (8-7 bottom of 10th)

10:47 I’m dying.

10:48 OH MY GOD I’M SO HAPPY! (8-7 final score)

10:49 HAPPY CRYING, I’M SO HAPPY I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. (8-7 final score)

In summation, that was an intensely nerve-wracking game that had me jumping for joy and lying on the ground crying multiple times at different points throughout the evening. I so wish I could be in the windy city celebrating with my family and the rest of the city in the streets. The curse is lifted and this team has so many young players on the roster. I’m ecstatic to see where the future takes them.

“Hey, Chicago, what do you say?

The Cubs are gonna win today!”

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
