I want to focus and elaborate on quite a few things from this list. First of all, these are my raw and honest thoughts. If you dislike them, cool, but you can’t control how you feel.
That’s where I want to start. I get that Arie couldn’t control his emotions and that he was torn. He did seem torn, and it felt like flipping a coin would have made the decision easier for Arie.
With this being said, it makes me question whether or not Arie was ready for an engagement? Being engaged means that you’re ready to spend the rest of your life with this person. Since Arie was so TORN, how could have seen forever with either woman?
That’s the part that I am the most disappointed about. Arie actually got down on one knee and proposed to someone, and it makes me angry because I feel like Arie treated these women like they were disposable. As a woman, that is the most angering feeling in the world because we are not disposable, nobody is nor should be treated like that.
Before we dive into the break-up, because I have A LOT of thoughts about that, and the whole concept of that. I want to talk about the show and Arie’s body language throughout the show. Honestly, it was so biased towards Lauren.
Throughout the entire finale and even throughout the season, Arie’s body language was more affectionate towards Lauren. With Becca it was different and sort of felt forced like the proposal did. That’s why I am shocked he initially chose Becca.
Honestly, I am not shocked that he broke up with Becca because of this. Their entire relationship felt forced, and it felt like a recipe for disaster. Unfortunately, that’s what happened and we saw it.
We saw a break-up, we saw someone get their heart destroyed and it was gut-wrenching. Becca wasn’t expecting to get her heart shattered. Also, I have a problem with the fact that they filmed this break-up.
This break up wasn’t at a rose ceremony, and it was after filming had “wrapped” for the season. Arie wasn’t dating any other women at the time, and he had a change of heart. To me, him breaking up with Becca should have happened in private.
Also, in general, any real world break up is something that should have been done in private. At that point, the relationship was a real-world relationship, and that was a total invasion of privacy. It was rather disgusting, and
Especially, since they don’t film “happy couple weekends”. Numerous people who were on The Bachelor/ette have tweeted about that. These weekends are the couples chance to meet up and have time to actually get to know each other away from the cameras. On top of that, they shouldn't have filmed it, to begin with.
They don't FILM happy couple weekends... WHAT ARE THEY TELLING BECCA!?
— JoJo Fletcher (@JoelleFletcher)
Let me just say, "happy couples weekend" you are put in a house for a few days....just you and your man. No friends or family around you. You+fiancée+house. I can't even imagine what Becca went through alone. Ugh!!!!!!!! Horrible.
— Vanessa Grimaldi (@VanessaGrimaldi)
Bachelor producers: let’s invite Becca to LA and pretend it’s for a happy couples weekend and then we can film you ripping her heart out in what will probably be the biggest betrayal of her life.
Arie: I love that.
— Melissa Stetten (@MelissaStetten)
To be ambushed on a happy couple's weekend is both nauseating and violating. Cameras did not need to be there. She showed him so much grace.— Jade Tolbert (@jadelizroper)
Overall, this break up was hard to watch, and it really ruined this season for me. I felt like Arie was sort of guilted into choosing Becca at this point. Also, Arie was just rather selfish during the break-up and he MESSAGED LAUREN B. AND SPOKE TO HER BEFORE HE BROKE UP WITH BECCA. HE SLID INTO HER DMS.
Look, I get following your heart and I don’t blame Arie for that. I think it’s a good thing that Arie realized he wasn’t fully happy and that his heart was with someone else. With that being said, he did EVERYTHING else wrong, in my opinion.
The break-up shouldn’t have been televised, Arie should have left when Becca TOLD him too, and Arie shouldn’t have even proposed in the first place. Also, when you’re an ENGAGED man, don’t be sliding into another girl's (especially his “ex’s”) DMs. Focus on the FOREVER.
Thus, I am rather distraught about this season. It was boring throughout the entire season and then painfully exposing and angering at the end. There was no happiness and love, instead there was hatred and boredom.
Side Note: Rebecca better be the next Bachelorette, or else I am boycotting. (Nope, I am going to watch regardless of who it is, I know myself too well.)
