Imagination. Without it, the advances in history would not have been possible. That's the one thing nobody can take away from you. Your imagination will always be with you from the day you were born until the day you die. Something that stays with you for your entire life can be a blessing or a curse depending on how you use it or how it's influenced during your life.

Here are some ways to ensure it's a blessing.

1. Know your interests.

When you're committed to something to like, you're more inclined to use your imagination to create something positive for yourself or for those you care about. For now, it doesn't matter what your interests are. What matter is that you know them and commit to them regardless of the risk or what anyone else thinks.

2. Remember the goal.

We all use our imagination for some reason, for some goal, or for something. It is absolutely important that we remember why we do the things we do with our imagination. Do we want to win something? Do we want to achieve a certain level? What are your dreams? Never forget them. If you do, you could get caught up in the smoke of the challenges. It's one of the pieces of advice I picked up during class.

3. Acknowledge the consequences.

Like I mentioned previously, everyone (and I mean everyone), has their own imagination. Some people like to use it for their own selfish gain, and such potential can and has caused harm to others throughout history. People's interests can be so twisted and messed up, and the best way to avoid them is to remember why. The moment you use your imagination for selfish purposes you endanger yourself and you endanger the people you love. I know this seems a bit cruel, but it had to be acknowledged to maintain protection.

4. Be versatile.

Life is unpredictable. You never know what situation will be presented to you. You'll have to use your imagination to get through the tough, the ugly, and the unexpected. Some experience these situations earlier than others, but no matter what happens, your imagination will change in the long run. What that change does to you is a matter of your own perspective.

5. Demonstrate humility.

Imagination is a powerful tool. What that tool can do is completely up to you. The power of imagination can be an incredible blessing to yourself and to others as long as you think about them. Every single one of us has the potential to make a difference in the world, and it starts with our imagination.

That's all the ways I can think of for now. After all, I'm just barely understanding the first thing about our imaginations. There are as many different personalities as there are people. We may never know what imagination truly is, but for now, we'll keep using it to learn more about it.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
